Guéthary's morning swell
The beaches, the waves, the port...

The never ending battle between land and water continues as waves dash against the cliff which break them and create the limits of our beaches :
  • CENITZ, framed by cliffsand wild moors.
  • AROTZEN COSTA (the Alcyons): a natural reserve protects marine life, sea urchins, shrimps and shellfish that develop in the small natural ponds that are exposed by the ebb tide.
  • PARLEMENTIA, the Mecca of surf sports where the Guethary's wave unfurls, a very famous surfer's spot.

Between Arotzen Costa and Parlementia, a natural channel leads to a small well-protected cove, a landing harbour where fishermen and surfers hoist their boats and boards to the top of the sleepway to keep them out of the water.
